Shed Buying Guide

Seven checks that help you get the right shed at a price you can compare.

Before you buy

Work through these in order. Each one affects the next.

  1. Start with what goes inside

List the vehicles, machinery, hay or animals and the working space around them.

  2. Choose height before length

Wall height decides which doors fit. Measure the tallest item, including racks and ROPS.

  3. Plan the doors

Number, width, height and which side they face. Think about weather and turning space.

  4. Check the site

Slope, truck access, boundaries and anything overhead affect slab, delivery and approval.

  5. Ask about approvals early

Your council or a private certifier can tell you what applies to your block.

  6. Understand the wind rating

A site with a higher wind rating needs a stronger design, which changes the price.

  7. Compare quotes line by line

Same size, doors, options, delivery and installation. A lower total can mean fewer inclusions.
