Open-front farm sheds: how bay sizes affect what fits

An open-front farm shed is a row of bays with one long side open. The bay width is the clear opening between columns, so it decides what you can drive in. Our standard open-front sheds use two bay widths.

4m bays

The Open Front 7m (7m x 12m x 3.6m) has three 4m bays. Four-metre openings suit smaller tractors, quad bikes, trailers and pallets of feed.

6m bays

The Open Front 9m (three 6m bays), Open Front 12m (four 6m bays) and Open Front 15m (six 6m bays) all use 6m openings. Wider bays make it easier to reverse in larger machinery and to stack hay with a loader.

Depth and height matter too

The width of the shed (7m to 15m in our range) is how deep the bays are. A deeper shed keeps rain off hay and equipment at the back. Wall height ranges from 3.6m to 5m; measure your tallest machine, including any cab, exhaust stack or ROPS frame.

Adding bays or enclosing one

You can add bays to lengthen any of these sheds, enclose an end bay with a roller door for secure storage, or add walls on the weather side. The Open Gable (12m x 15m x 5m) is an alternative when you want access from more than one side.
